De-clutter those messy distractions

Try focus-hacking your environment by removing potential disruptions. Keep your workspace clean and uncluttered and see if you feel more Zen. You can also try closing your door, putting on headphones, switching your phone to silent or turning off email notifications. Minimizing distractions can remove the urge to switch tasks – keeping you focused on the task at hand.

First things first (then the next)

If you have several task to complete, try picking just one to start with. When it’s done, move on to the next. You can monitor your tasks using a simple task list with “to-do” items ordered based on urgency and importance. Checking off those tasks is a great way to feel accomplished – after all, one complete task is better than two half-completed tasks!

Kick back for a bit…and get more done

Even the most determined people have a difficult time staying focused. Try blocking out time for working on specific tasks – and blocking out time for some rest and relaxation.

It’s good to be a goal digger

Completing a task or achieving a goal is a great thing, so give yourself a pat on the back each time you do. How you do it is up to you: a stroll around the office, a piece of fruit from the kitchen or watching a few cat videos online. Rewards are a great incentive for getting things done, so treat your-self!
